College football gambling and handicapping notes by conference from te weekend ow October 11th.

ACC

Maryland was losing the yardage and FD battle to Duke but still managed a lead at the half 13-0. By the third, MD lead 27-0, but let Duke score 20 in the fourth to pick up the backdoor.

The “Good” GT showed up against WF and out won the FD battle 22-11 and the yardage battle 441-277 winning the game 24-7

NC State barely escaped UConn in a game where they we’re outgained 452-323. State relied on a 47 yard fumble return for a TD in the third, and a 56 yard pick for a TD with less than a minute left for a 31-24 victory.

Virginia Tech continued to use special teams to win games by getting two punt return TDs and a blocked punt against Syracuse.

CUSA

UAB used big plays to topple Cincinnati. They hit a 94 yard TD pass, a 56 yard TD pass and blocked a punt and recovered inside the 5 to set up 21 of their 31 total points. They won 31-14.

Big Ten

Michigan trailed 28-7 heading into the 4th Quarter but won the game 38-35. UM also surrendered 424 yards rushing to the Gophers.

Big 12

Though KU lead the Buffs at half 35-24 they failed to convert on their first two long drives in the second. They instead settled for a FG and a missed FG while CU scored two TDs on their first two drives.

Oklahoma topped 50 points for the fourth straight game.

Texas Tech continued to roll it up gaining 775 yards of offense (to ISU’s 355) and won the FD battle 21-14. The game was once tied at 21 but the Red Raiders rolled off 5 consecutive TDs to take the lead for good.

Nebraska led Mizzou 24-14 in the third but gave the ball away five times in the game and allowed MU to capitalize on the TOs and a Fake FG to win SU against the Huskers.

MAC

Kent picked up a backdoor cover against Marshall with two TDs in the fourth. The first was with just under seven minutes remaining and the second came on a huge 98 yard pass play with just 3:30 left in the game.

Miami Ohio used two consecutive kick return TDs to pad their lead on lowly Buffalo. For the game the Hawks 239 yard on PRs for a MAC record.

PAC 10

ASU used big defensive plays to jump out to a 14 point lead on Oregon. A fifty yard return for a TD and another pick deep in Oregon territory gave them a 14-0 lead with only 3 minutes gone in the game.

Arizona looked improved in their game against UCLA though a 55 yard pick return for a TD cost them the game. RB Clarence Farmer rushed for 122 and UA had the yardage edge huge in this game 519-333. The Wildcats missed two FGs in the fourth that would have tied it.

SEC

Arkansas had nearly 150 yards of offense taken off the board due to penalties in their game against Auburn. They we’re twice called for holding on rushes of 69 and 78 yards.

South Carolina looked like they had Kentucky but UK had two TDs on 4th down situations in the second half (the final being a 4th and 15 with 6 minutes left) and escaped with the backdoor cover.

WAC
In CSU’s blowout win over BYU they lead 48-13 at the half but only had a 263-213 yardage edge
