After a weekend filled with great games, we'll see what this weekend has in store for us. The big match-ups include:
Iowa State @ Oklahoma
Ohio State @ Wisconsin
Washington @ Southern Cal
Texas @ Kansas State
Notre Dame @ Air Force
Here are my predictions for this weekend's showdowns.
I. Last Week Recap
I finished at 5-4 last week in both my email picks and my actual bets. This brings my season record to 39-19 (67%) in betting and 22-13 (63%) since the inception of my email picks.
Tough break of the week:
As I predicted, Bowling Green was covering the spread by halftime…unfortunately, they were outscored 28-17 in the second half including a TD with 41 seconds left to give Central Michigan the backdoor cover.
Best picks of the week:
Florida State +13 @ Miami…
Final score: Miami 28, FSU 27; should have been a moneyline winner too but the kicking jinx continues for the Noles against the Canes.
Washington State -7 @ Stanford…
Final score: WSU 36, Stanford 11
Worst pick of the week:
Eastern Michigan +10 @ Ohio…
Final score: Ohio 55, E. Michigan 27
II. This Week's Picks
As I did last week, I like a bunch of road teams again this weekend. Nine of my ten picks are away teams.
Iowa State +9 (@ Oklahoma)...
Should be a great game and a good chance for the Cyclones to prove that they're for real. I expect them to step up and give the Sooners all they can handle.
Colorado State Pk (@ Utah)...
The Utes are reeling having lost four in a row.
Arizona +1 (@ Stanford)...
Stanford looks like the worst team in the PAC-10 right now; the Wild Cats passing game should have a big game.
Nebraska -7.5 (@ Oklahoma State)...
Even a down Huskers' team should be too much for the Cowboys to keep up with.
Michigan -4 (@ Purdue)...
Wolverines should be able to cover against a shaky Purdue team.
Notre Dame +3 (@ Air Force)...
The Irish D will stop the Falcons' option game.
South Florida -1 (@ East Carolina)...
The Bulls only losses have come to Oklahoma and Arkansas; ECU hasn't been very impressive this year.
Eastern Michigan +15 (@ Ball State)...
Too many points here.
NC State -25 (vs. Duke)...
The Wolfpack should be able to score at will on the Blue Devils.
Mississippi +10.5 (@ Alabama)…
Eli Manning and the Rebel offense should keep this one close.
III. Doggs on the Money
Note: These don't count in my record as they are underdog money line bets and therefor picked to pull off the upset and win outright...I can also see these games going the other way! I don't have access to the actual ML payoffs for these games at the time of this writing.
Four money line bets this week:
Washington (over Soutern California)...
The Huskies are capable of the upset and the odds should be high enough to warrant taking them.
Notre Dame (over Air Force)...
The Irish have found a way to win all year.
Arkansas State (over North Texas)...
Should be a good money line for the home team.
Eastern Michigan (over Ball State)…
Long shot but if you can find a money line on this game it may be worth dropping a few bucks on it.
