Texas cornerback Tarell Brown and linebacker Tyrell Gatewood were arrested early Monday morning for misdemeanor charges related to unlawfully carrying a friearm and drug possession.
Texas Head Coach Mack Brown announced late this afternoon that the pair would be suspended for the Ohio State game this coming weekend. The loss could impact the Longhorns as Brown is considered their top cover corner and was likely the man set to cover Ohio State stud WR Ted Ginn.
When asked about the decision to suspend the players, Coach Brown said, "I'm just trying to get through Saturday. As a head coach, Number one, you have to look at the legal system and cooperate with the authorities..."
"Number two, you must go through the university because that's who we work for.
"Number three, you are concerned about distractions for your football team...
"And number four, you care about the three young men involved and their families.
