| Pac-10 Week 8 Game Previews By Derek Wong Pac-10 Correspondent Oct 19, 2007 - 11:41:33 AM |
Cal is coming off a devastating loss to Oregon State while UCLA had a bye last week. Cal's defense has been shaky the whole season and it can't count on its offense to outscore opponents if Kevin Riley has to start at quarterback for the injured Nate Longshore. Longshore will be a game time decision. UCLA has injury problems of its own and QB Patrick Cowan should get the start this week. Cowan also started last year in their loss to Cal in Berkeley. Cal will run the ball with Justin Forsett and throw to its three talented WRs. UCLA has a good defense but their offense just won't put up enough points this week.
Cal 30 UCLA 20
USC vs Notre Dame
USC is coming off an unimpressive win over Arizona while Notre Dame lost at home to a good Boston College squad. QB Mark Sanchez will probably start for the Trojans but John David Booty should be ready if needed. Although USC's offense has not put up as many points as they would like in the past two games, they should score enough this week to beat the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame will have trouble on offense as Evan Sharpley starts at quarterback.
USC 24 Notre Dame 10
Oregon vs Washington
These two teams are heading in opposite directions as Oregon continues to win while Washington continues to struggle. QB Jake Locker has not shown any improvement in his passing and throws too many interceptions. The Huskies don't have much of a running game either to help out Locker. Oregon will cruise in this one.
Oregon 41 Washington 24
Stanford vs Arizona
Stanford will be without its starting RB Anthony Kimble for this game. Arizona has a good defense and should give QB Tavita Pritchard fits. On offense, the Wildcats should have no trouble against a Stanford defense that gave up 38 points last week to TCU.
Arizona 31 Stanford 17
